William Morris Tree of Life Loomination Blanket
The Tree of Life is one of William Morris's most iconic textile designs, originally created as an embroidered wool portière by Morris & Co. circa 1910 with drafting by his associate John Henry Dearle. The motif features a central, intertwining tree with lush branches laden with flowers, pomegranates, and leaves, populated by birds in flight, often incorporating the mille-fleurs ("thousand flowers") background technique inspired by pre-Renaissance and medieval European tapestries.
This Loomination throw blanket weaves eight miles of premium 100% cotton (70% recycled) and 4,600 individual threads into an exceptionally luxurious and durable textile. Sustainably sourced, color-fast, and pre-shrunk, it machine washes in cold water and tumble dries on cool setting—becoming softer and more welcoming with each wash. Unlike traditional woollen throws, it withstands years of daily use without compromise.
